Sunday 20th October: 21st Sunday after Trinity

A week ago the Cabaret evening took place in the church hall. Thanks go to Clare Bellamy Moss and everyone who helped to put on this event. As well as being a thoroughly entertaining evening it was also raising money for the ongoing church hall renewal project. Much work has gone into making grant applications which will be needed to fund the majority of the cost of hall projects. The chances of grant success are greatly increased when the wider Tadworth community also contribute to the cost. Just now we are awaiting news of grant applications for refurbishment of the toilets and for the renewal of stage lighting.

Every Church of England church is required to retain a consulting architect to inspect the church building fabric and advise on building projects. Yesterday Richard Shipman and I met the person likely to be our new church architect. During the walk round with them we were reminded of the various building repairs needed for the church that we already know about. While some small grants can be found for the church building, most of the church repairs have to be paid for by the generosity and efforts of our church members.

Last Sunday we enjoyed choral evensong with a larger choir than usual and over 50 people at the service, and also enjoying the buzz of conversation over a glass of wine or soft drink afterwards. Thank you to Tim Carey and our choir.

But now to look forward, and as usual this email contains all the news of services and events over the next few weeks,

Tim

Church building repairs

Following the leaks of water earlier in the year into the sanctuary and the organ loft, Ecclesiastical Insurance have agreed to pay for the repairs to the organ (about £3250). They declined to pay the £2250 which the church had to spend on the cost of clearance of the high level gutter and the stabilisation of the wall above the organ both needed to prevent a recurrence during heavy rainfall.
