Sunday 8th September: 15th Sunday after Trinity

Writer: Timothy AstinTimothy Astin

Welcome Back Sunday

We welcome back Church Explorers, our Junior Church) this Sunday and hold our church barbecue to mark the return to school and college after the summer.

We are fortunate to have great buildings and grounds at the Church of the Good Shepherd. With the forecast for the Welcome Back Barbecue predicted for showers with potentially a heavy shower, we have set things next to the hall, so we can serve and eat either in the hall or under the gazebos depending on how it turns out. So come and enjoy the burgers and sausages from our local butcher, Chapman’s, the deserts and ice-creams and the good company. Bring your preferred drinks.

The project to create a new stained glass window as a memorial to George Mount is moving forward. We have just received the design pack from the artist Amanda Blair (Abinger Stained Glass). The window design will be in church this Sunday for you to look at, and Julian Mount will be there to talk with about the design alongside the project group from the church, Lizzie Garrett, Antony Hawker and myself. The Church Council will consider the design at its meeting next Tuesday.

With God’s blessing,

Tim

Thanks for the Model Railway Exhibition

The exhibition raised some £1,300 for church funds through entrance tickets and the catering. Thank you to Stuart Robinson and everyone who put on the exhibition.

For our Prayers

We continue to remember in our prayers Mike Foster in hospital and for Annabel and his family. We give thanks for the life of Dave Harman, remembering to God his wife and family as they prepare for a funeral service at the end of the month.
