Sunday 22nd December: 4th Sunday of Advent

Writer: Timothy AstinTimothy Astin

‘Christmas is a time for giving’ as the saying goes. One of the privileges of being the Vicar and the Church Treasurer is that we give out, on your behalf, support to individual people or to families who particularly need it. These grants come from our Community Support Fund (a ring-fenced fund of the CoGS Church Council) first set up during the covid pandemic. This fund receives donations, often anonymously, from people with a heart for this type of support from within and beyond the church. I hear about needs in various ways including through our local schools, from community referrals and from pastoral conversations.

It is just one example of our many responses as a church, and as individuals, to the love made flesh in Jesus Christ that we celebrate in our Christmas services. May you be blessed and encouraged as we share in our special Christmas services, and may you enjoy both giving and receiving those many tokens of God’s love.

Tim
