Sunday 20th April: Easter Sunday

The church is decorated and ready for our festival services to celebrate Easter Day.

This year we have decorations contributed by the COGS Craft Group, by Church Explorers and by our flower arranging group. We thank all of them for their creativity and commitment.

When you see the various decorations it may inspire you to join one of these groups. Still in its first year, the Craft Group meet on the first Saturday of each month. The flower arrangers take turns contributing flowers week by week to the church sanctuary and elsewhere and are very welcoming and supportive of people who would like to join in. Church Explorers are open to new adult helpers to expand our children and teenage activities and to contribute to the crafts the children and leaders make.

Again, my thanks to those of you who prepare the Easter Egg Hunt and put on the Cake Sale which are a regular part of Easter celebrations.

Christ is risen! Alleluia!

Tim

Bishop's Lent Call

Each year the Bishop of Southwark, Christopher Chessun, makes a charity appeal to support projects across the Southwark Diocese and our linked Dioceses of Jerusalem and in Zimbabwe. See here https://southwark.anglican.org/news-events/events/lent-call/ for more about this year’s projects.

Thank you to those who have already donated at our Lent Lunches and at our Maundy Thursday service. If you would like to contribute with a donation to the Bishop’s Lent Call they can be made via our collection plate. Please label your donation envelope “Lent Call”. Gifts can also be given online direct to the Diocese of Southwark – see the link above.

Confirmation in 2025

At a Confirmation service candidates confirm for themselves their baptism promises. Adult Baptism can also take place at this service. After Confirmation children can receive the bread and wine of communion. For adults, either Confirmation or Adult Baptism open the way to receive the bread and wine of communion. There is a Confirmation Service in our church on Sunday 15th June at 5pm with Rosemarie, Bishop of Croydon.

Confirmation preparation classes for children and adults take place over five weeks on Sundays at 3.30pm, starting on Sunday 2nd May. Please let the Vicar know of your wish to take part in this preparation to be Confirmed (which can include Baptism if appropriate).

Church Annual Meeting and Elections: Sunday 11th May

This meeting will follow the 10 am service.

We will elect Churchwardens and our Church Council members. Nominations lists are on the green notice board at the back of church.
