The parish church of the Good Shepherd, Tadworth, Surrey wish to appoint an inspirational Director of Music from July 2018. Central tradition.

Currently the 10.00am Sunday sung Eucharist includes: four hymns, psalm of the day to Anglican chant, and a choir anthem. Special services in accordance with the Christian year, and the occasional choral Evensong. 

The enthusiastic, mixed SATB robed choir of about twenty, includes a junior section. The choir is RSCM affiliated. The current pattern is a rehearsal on Fridays, with a fifteen minute choir rehearsal before the service.  There is a deputy available within the choir.

 We would like the new Director of Music to be an enthusiastic teacher, and a team leader who will encourage musical talent in others to develop, both among the juniors and adults, and help us to increase the Junior section especially. They will evolve our musical repertoire, to keep music at the heart of the worship of the whole church.

The two manual and pedal pipe organ originally by Abbott & Smith and subsequently enlarged.   There are plans to improve and increase the versatility of the instrument which will also include adding new stops to the Great. The church also has a fine Weber grand pianoforte, upright piano for rehearsals and a Clavinova.

The Church of the Good Shepherd has a lively programme of social events. 
The church is also used by the local schools, including a weekly assembly.
The remuneration is based on RSCM guidelines, with fees for weddings and funerals.
The position will require an enhanced DBS check.
