This is a Eucharist service in the context of a Passover meal in church. The service takes place with the congregation sitting around the dining tables set out in church. During the service a meal is served.
The service also includes footwashing and the traditional Maundy Thursday stripping of the altar. There is no charge for the meal, but you will be invited to make a donation to cover costs (suggested donation £5). Any profit from the meal will be given to the Bishop’s Lent Appeal.
While the meal itself is a very sociable occasion, the service is fairly quiet and reflective. Many children respond to this atmosphere, and they are very welcome to attend, but it would not suit everyone.
